H.S. ROUNDUP: Borden whips Rebels, clinches SAC tennis title again

Highlanders go to 20-0 after 11-3 win over Seymour



• Hornets win at Borden:
Henryville earned an 8-3 Southern Athletic Conference victory at Borden

Emily Hollis went 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead the Hornets. Kristen Nestor was 3 for 4 for the Borden.

“As a whole, we played much better today,” Borden coach Alex Knerr said. “We are cutting our errors down and the girls stayed positive throughout the entire game. I’m very proud of the improvements that they have made and the adjustments because we have really been up and down here the last couple weeks.”

NEXT: Borden hosts Orleans, Monday; Henryville at Salem, Tuesday.

• Webster tosses fourth shutout of the week: Charlestown senior Alli Webster threw her fourth shutout in as many days as the Pirates defeated Brownstown Central 3-0

Webster struck out 13 and didn’t walk a single Brave. The two hits she surrendered were Scottsburg’s only baserunners.

It was 0-0 heading into the sixth when the Pirates scored three times. Cassie Martin’s two-RBI single that scored Shelby Goedeker and Jenna Sherrill put Charlestown up for good.

NEXT: Charlestown (12-2, 7-1 MSC) vs. Bedford North Lawrence, Saturday at Edgewood Mustang Invitational.

• Bulldogs edge Paoli: New Albany scored three times in the bottom of the fifth for a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over Paoli.

Brooke McCoy went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs and Brittany Jones hit a double and scored twice for the Bulldogs. Hannah Morton improved to 9-2 on the season.

NEXT: New Albany (15-4) hosts Scottsburg, Monday.

• Dragons beat Scottsburg on Senior Night: Senior Sydney Ledgewedge provided some fireworks in her final home game as Silver Creek defeated Scottsburg 4-2 on Senior Night.

Ledgewedge went 3 for 3 with a double and three runs knocked in in the victory. Shayla Cravens was 2 for 3 and McKenzie Bush held the Warriorettes to five hits while striking out six Scottsburg batters.

NEXT: Silver Creek (6-9, 2-4 MSC) at Plainfield (Plainfield Tournament), Saturday.

• Jeff blanks Madison: Kayleigh Thomas threw a four-hit shutout and went 2 for 3 at the plate as Jeffersonville defeated Madison 8-0.

Thomas struck out four Cubs without walking any.

Emma Coons was the offensive star for the Red Devils, going 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, two runs and two RBIs. Emily Gray and Marley Edward also finished with two hits apiece.

NEXT: Jeffersonville (10-7) at Evansville Harrison and Evansville North, Saturday.

• Morris shuts down Rebels: Whitney Morris pitched a three-hit shutout and went 2 for 4 two two RBIs and two stolen bases to lead New Washington to a 4-0 victory over South Central

Morris struck out 16 and walked just two Rebels in the triumph.

NEXT: New Washington (9-8, 3-1 SAC) hosts Madison Shawe, Wednesday.
