H.S. FOOTBALL: Silver Creek can’t hold off Panthers

Corydon outscores Dragons 13-0 in second half for MSC victory

CORYDON — Jake Meadors filled in for injured Silver Creek quarterback Brooks Howell and threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Austin Hasting to give the Dragons a 6-2 halftime lead against Corydon Central on Friday.

However, despite a great effort by the Creek defense, the more experience Panthers were able to outscored the Dragons 13-0 in the second half for a 15-6 Mid-Southern Conference victory.

The Panthers are now 3-0 and are giving up fewer than seven points per contest. Silver Creek continued to show its vast improvement on defense. In two games a year ago, the Dragons gave up 70 and 42 points against Corydon.

The 15 points Silver Creek surrendered tied a school record set a year ago in a 35-15 win over North Harrison.

The Dragons (1-2) are back in Mid-Southern Conference action next week when they face 1-2 Eastern.
