— The Floyd County Animal Rescue League’s seventh-annual Pet Lover’s Gala was Saturday, Aug. 4. The theme was the bicentennial celebration and we were honored to be included as an official New Albany Bicentennial event.

For several years, this fun event has been the league’s largest fundraiser. Thank you to all who attended.

Our sponsors made the evening possible: Animal Hospital of Lanesville, Feeders Supply, Your Community Bank, Faithful Companions Pet Cremation Services and Judge Terrence Cody. Support was also received from Care-Pets Animal Hospital, Pearls on Pearl and Monroe Shine, CPA.

The merchants and individuals who donated to the silent auction are too numerous to list here. Their generosity is overwhelming.

We also thank Don Corson and his Louisville English Country Dancers group. Their performance of authentic dances from the colonial times in splendid period costumes was a highlight of the evening.

Last but not least, we appreciate all our volunteers who give their time to this and every Rescue League event that we may continue our work for the abused, abandoned and neglected pets of our community.
