Councilwoman touts new leadership class

The city of Jeffersonville is pleased to announce that it will be holding its fourth Jeffersonville Neighborhood Leadership Institute starting the first part of April.

The three previous institutes have produced many contributing residents who are giving back to their community by developing healthy neighborhoods, and thus, raising the quality of life in Jeffersonville. I strongly believe that if we work on producing stronger, united neighborhoods we are building a better Jeffersonville.

The institute will again be conducted by University of Louisville Professor and Urban Specialist Michael McCoy. I hope you will take this opportunity to learn more about how the city of Jeffersonville operates, work on projects to improve your neighborhood and make new friends from all over Jeffersonville.

The institute will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 4 through June 13, each Thursday, at the Ken Ellis Center in Jeffersonville. The classes are free and dinner will be provided. Expectations are class attendance and development of an improvement project either alone or with other participants.

You can get an application by contacting City Clerk Vicki Conlin at 812-280-3258 or Please get your application in as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance for your support of our neighborhoods and I hope to see you there.

— Lisa Gill, Jeffersonville City Council District 5
