IU Southeast evacuated 50 to 60 people from two buildings on campus because of natural gas leak Friday morning.
A main gas line was severed by construction on the new residential halls around 10 a.m., said Jenny Johnson Wolf, director of university communication and special assistant to the chancellor.
She said there was an odor of gas in both Knobview Hall and the Paul W. Ogle Center buildings, so staff and students were evacuated and moved to the University Center.
Vectren Corp. was able to repair the broken gas line. Wolf said air handlers were used to remove the existing odor in the buildings.
Both buildings were opened back up just after noon. No one reported any injuries as a result of the leak.
