Tree uproots in New Albany; no other major damage reported

By MELISSA MOODY

A storm that rattled windows and shook trees in Southern Indiana failed to cause any major problems in Clark or Floyd counties Sunday. Emergency officials from both counties said there were localized — within blocks — power outages, but not much else to worry residents.

Tree limbs were downed during the storm, but not much else, officials said. High winds, rain and cold were about the only thing to be suffered through.

“Most of the (reports) show nothing to be of hazard to anybody from power lines,” said Brad Meixell, an administrator for Clark County Emergency Communications. “There were no widespread outages; the longest line down was about two hours.

“We lucked out again — I like it when we’re lucky. There was nothing too destructive as far as damage to homes.”

Floyd County emergency management officials reported similar circumstances, with little damage or power outages around the county.
