Jeffersonville Parks Department sets upcoming schedule

The Jeffersonville Parks and Recreation Department has several upcoming events, according to a release from the city. They are:

• Sign-ups for the Jeffersonville Aquatic Center Swimming and Diving Team take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Aquatic Center, 2107 Middle Road. The cost is $50 per child for season pass holders, and $70 per child for those who do not hold season passes. For more information, call Sara Kraft at 812-282-7946.

• The Jeffersonville Youth Commission and the Jeffersonville Township Public Library will co-host the musical puppet show “The Cheese.” The performances take place at 2 p.m.. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Youth Services Puppet Theater at the Jeffersonville Township Public Library, 211 E. Court Ave. For more information, contact the library at 812-285-5636.

• The Jeffersonville Aquatic Center, 2107 Middle Road, kicks off its 2008 season May 24. The center’s hours are 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday; 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Season passes are $45 for an individual resident, $60 for an individual nonresident, $180 for a resident family of four ($15 for each additional family member) and $240 for a nonresident family of four ($15 for each additional family members). Season passes are being sold at a 10 percent discount through May 23. Daily rates are $4 per resident and $6 per nonresident. For more information call 812-282-7946.

• The Jeffersonville Parks and Recreation Department and Twilight Golf Course are co-hosting golf clinics for children age seven and older. Clinics take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Twilight Golf Course, 5316 E. Ind. 62. Six-session clinics take place June 3 through June 19 and June 24 through July 10. A single 12-session clinic is available from June 3 through July 10.

The cost is $65 per child for six sessions and $110 per child for 12 sessions. Registration is available at Nachand Fieldhouse, 601 E. Court Ave. For more information call 812-285-6444 or 812-288-8871.

• The Jeffersonville Parks Department will host its annual summer program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays from June 2 to July 11 at the Nachand Fieldhouse, 601 E. Court Ave. The camp is closed July 4 for Independence Day. Children in the first through third grades can attend camp Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Children in the fourth through sixth grades can attend the camp Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

• Field trips are scheduled on Fridays and include the Jeffersonville Aquatic Center, Kart Country, the Louisville Zoological Gardens and Holiday World, among others. Registration is available at Nachand Fieldhouse and costs $80 for one child and $40 for each additional child from the same family. The field trip package costs an additional $60 per child, with no discounts for multiple children from the same family. For more information call 812-285-6444.
