Accused chiropractor posts bond after turning self in

Preliminary not guilty plea entered at initial hearing

A preliminary not guilty plea was entered Thursday morning for a local chiropractor accused of molesting and raping a female family member.

After turning himself in and having an initial hearing in Floyd County Superior Court No. 3, Nolan was released on $75,000 court cash — $7,500. He was required to pay 10 percent of that amount to be released.

On Wednesday, a warrant was issued for the 38-year-old Nolan on charges of class B felony rape, class C felony child molesting and two counts of class D felony child seduction. The alleged crimes occurred from 2005 through 2009, and the victim is now 17.

Nolan was charged with four counts of misdemeanor battery in May after being accused of inappropriately touching four female clients at his business in Clarksville. Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson said the child molesting allegations came out of that investigation.

Prior to charges being filed in Clark County, Nolan lived in New Albany and operated Nolan Chiropractic along Veterans Parkway in Clarksville. The business has since closed, and Nolan moved back to his hometown of Portsmouth, Ohio.

Nolan’s first pretrial conference is scheduled for Sept. 2, with a jury trial set to begin Nov. 23. He faces nine to 34 years in prison.
