Construction on IU Southeast’s new residential community continues as the university assembles the housing program’s leadership team.

Jim Schlinsog has been named the director of Residence Life and Housing. He will direct the development of the residence hall program on campus, and manage the five lodge-style residence halls scheduled to open in fall 2008, a news release from the University says.

A long-time administrator with housing experience, Schlinsog joins IU Southeast after serving as assistant director of housing and residence life at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.

Schlinsog believes the new residence life program will further build a sense of community and belonging among students, and is thrilled to be a part of the new era at IU Southeast.

Schlinsog is directing his initial focus to behind-the-scenes work, he said. He plans to add an assistant director to his staff soon.

Also, housing rates have been determined for the residence halls for fiscal year 2008-09. The IU Board of Trustees approved the rates at their September meeting in Bloomington.

Rates range from $2,730 to $3,534 per person per semester, depending on the type of apartment chosen. For a detailed rate table, visit www.ius.edu/housing. Included in the rates are amenities such as high-speed Internet service for each resident; wireless availability in each building; all utilities; access to laundry facilities; cable TV; a great room-common area in each building; access to a computer lab; fully-furnished apartments; a full kitchen in each apartment; and state-of-the-art security features.

The lodges will house more than 400 students.
