Former Vera Bradley exec to speak at scholarship event

Women’s Foundation of Southern Indiana hosts Jill Nichols

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — The Women’s Foundation of Southern Indiana will hold its biennial signature event dinner program from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Horseshoe Southern Indiana.

The event is held to raise money for scholarships and grants to support women and families in the area.

WAVE 3 News personality Dawne Gee will host the program as it reaches its fourth event. The evening will also feature guest speaker Jill Nichols, community volunteer and retired executive vice president of philanthropy and community relations for Vera Bradley. In addition, a silent purse auction featuring an array of purses and other accessories will add to the fundraising portion of the event. Past events have featured more than 40 purses.

The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, a funding organization for the Women’s Foundation of Southern Indiana, is proud to be a part of this event.

“[The WFSI] strong leadership and focus on effecting positive change for women in our area is vital to improving the quality of life in our region,” says Linda Speed, president and CEO of the CFSI, in a news release. “The Awards of Excellence is an opportunity for the Women’s Foundation to honor and recognize area organizations that strive to reach goals similar to these.”
