Free seminar on life’s challenges
The Catholic Community of Jeffersonville, St. Augustine and Sacred Heart Parishes Health Ministry Team is offering a free seminar on life’s challenges from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Jan. 29, at St. Augustine Church, 315 E. Chestnut St., Jeffersonville.
Unexpected Life Changing Events and End of Life Care: A Spiritual, Medical and Legal Perspective, will begin with brief introductory remarks, followed by an opportunity to ask questions from a physician, attorney or clergy.

Library sponsoring book swap
The Clarksville branch of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library, 1312 Eastern Blvd., Clarksville, will sponsor a book swap from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the library.
Bring in the books you would like to exchange and trade them for books that others have brought in. For more information, call the library at 812-285-5640.
Learn about dining with diabetes
The Purdue Extension Service, in cooperation with Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital and the YMCA of Floyd County, will offer Dining With Diabetes, a four-week program focusing on Type 2 Diabetes, beginning Feb. 7. The program is geared toward helping people with Type 2 Diabetes, as well as their families and friends, learn more about how to live well and reduce health risks.
Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Feb. 7, 14, 21, and 28. Participants will receive one-hour of instruction from Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital registered dietitian Whitney Dunagan and a one-hour cooking school taught by Purdue Extension Educator Janet Steffens, at each class. Julie Callaway, senior wellness director at the YMCA in New Albany will also be on hand to explain the importance of regular exercise and help participants find creative ways to build exercise into their busy schedules.
