NEW ALBANY

UMW women to host breakfast

The Floyd County United Methodist Women will hold their annual Lenten Breakfast at Silver Street United Methodist Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23. Admission is free, but a goodwill offering will be taken. 

Call your church secretary to make reservations by Monday, Feb. 18, or call Silver Street Church at 812-948-1331.  

 

Depauw hosting tailgate dinner

DePauw Methodist Church,  925 Vincennes St., New Albany, will sponsor a tailgate dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the church.

The menu will include pork tenderloin, sweet potatoes, cole slaw, corn muffins, dessert and a drink. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12, and 5 and under eat free. Call 812-45-6537 for more information.

 

FLOYD COUNTY

Presidents’ Day book sale at NA-FC Library

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, the Friends of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library will hold their annual Presidents Day Book Sale in the library’s Annex Building. All books in the Biography Section will be discounted by 50 percent. Regular prices are $1 for hardbacks; 50 cents for videos, DVDs and paperbacks; 25 cents for audio book cassette tapes; and 10 cents for magazines and music cassette tapes.  Children’s books are available at prices of $1 or less.

 

SOUTHERN INDIANA

Hosparus looking for volunteers  

Hosparus Southern Indiana needs patient care volunteers who live in Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Scott and Washington counties. Hosparus will offer free volunteer training, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, March 4 [lunch is provided] at its New Albany office, 624 E. Market St.

Volunteers help with patient and family support, administrative duties and development/ fundraising. Hosparus carefully selects volunteers and provides them with comprehensive training specially designed to meet the needs of patients and families. Hosparus volunteers must have available transportation and complete training and an application process.
