Jury selected in first Gibson murder trial

Trial for murder of New Albany woman, 75, to begin Oct. 21

LAWRENCEBURG — The jury selection in the first of three William Clyde Gibson murder trials was completed Thursday.

The jury, a cast of seven women and five men, plus five alternates, was selected over the course of four days in a Dearborn County court, near Cincinnati.

The jurors will be brought to Floyd County for the murder trial that begins Oct. 21 in Judge Susan Orth’s Superior Court No. 1. The trial was initially scheduled for July 15.

A representative of the Office of the Floyd County Prosecutor said both Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson and his Chief Deputy Prosecutor Steven Owen represented the state during the jury selection.

Approximately 300 people made up the original jury pool for the capital murder trial.

Henderson previously decided to first try Gibson in the death of 75-year-old Christine Whitis, who was found strangled in Gibson’s garage April 19, 2012.

Gibson is scheduled to face separate trials for the murders of Stephanie Kirk and Karen Hodella.
