NEW ALBANY

 Youth league hosting pancake fundraiser

The New Albany Youth League  will be hosting a flapjack fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Applebee’s, 3030 Grant Line Road, New Albany.

 All proceeds raised will help purchase new equipment and uniforms. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door or by calling 423-714-6047.

 

Jewelry in spotlight at exhibition

The Arts Council of Southern Indiana presents “All Jewelry”, an exhibition of jewelry and decorative crafts created by Indiana artisans living and working in the region. This eclectic exhibition is curated by Roxy Lentz. Lentz makes one-of-a-kind jewelry from repurposed materials, such as silver plate trays, copper, brass and aluminum. Lentz refers to her work as “uncommon jewelry for independent women.” Works by Jan Sowder, Laura Smith, Kelli Pope, Dawn Middleton, as well as examples of Lentz’s work will be presented in this exhibition.

An open reception will be from 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 11, at The Arts Council of Southern Indiana, 820 East Market St., New Albany. The exhibit will continue through Jan. 3, 2014.

 

Photography exhibit opens Oct. 11

The Arts Council of Southern Indiana presents a retrospective exhibition of works by award-winning Louisville photographer Bill Luster, Oct. 11 through Nov. 30, at The Arts Council, 820 East Market St., New Albany. 

 This exhibition is held in conjunction with the 2013 Photo Biennial, the Louisville area’s premier photographic festival held during the month of October. 

Open reception will be from 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 12, at the Arts Center Gallery. This date also marks the Second Saturday Trolley Hop.

 

JEFFERSONVILLE

Chicken dinner for charity

The Knights of Columbus, 225 E. Market St., Jeffersonville, will sponsor an all-you-can-eat chicken dinner, 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the K of C. Hall.

The menu of chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, potatoes and gravy, slaw, drink and dessert is $8.

A large portion of the proceeds will be given to charity.

 

CLARK COUNTY

Clark council’s budget workshops continue

The Clark County Council will hold three special meetings this week to conduct budget workshops for the 2014 county budget. 

The meetings will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Each meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and will be held in room 418 of the Clark County Government Building, 501 E. Court Ave., Jeffersonville.
