It looks to be a nice Father’s Day weekend for the region.
It will start off with lower humidity Saturday and plenty of sunshine. Highs will likely climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Saturday night looks to be another night that we can enjoy some “free A/C,” as lows will ease down into the upper 50s and lower 60s. I would enjoy it; there are signs of change as we head into Sunday.
Father’s Day looks warm with highs back into the middle if not upper 80s. The humidity will return, so we cannot rule out an isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm. The best chance for that appears to be more focused across Southern Kentucky. So if you have camping or fishing plans, it looks to be a great weekend to spend it with dad.
Next week looks to be perhaps our hottest stretch of weather so far this season. It looks to only last about three or four days, but highs very well could touch 90 degrees for the first time this year. The heat index may climb into the middle 90s Monday through Wednesday.
It will be humid as well so there will be a daily chance for showers and thunderstorms next week, some of which could produce some locally heavy downpours.
There are signs that we will see yet another significant cool-down as we approach the following weekend. Ironically, that will be the first official weekend of summer.
Chance of a brief shower south.
