Bennett forum coming to Ivy Tech
Tony Bennett, the Republican candidate for state superintendent of public instruction, will answer questions and give his position on various issues at a public forum at 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at Ivy Tech Community College.
The forum, sponsored by Leadership Southern Indiana and One Southern Indiana, will be in the Community Room of the Horseshoe Foundation Assembly Center in Ogle Hall. No registration is required to attend, but questions can be submitted to email@example.com.
LSI hosting Day at the Downs
Leadership Southern Indiana (LSI) will host a Day at the Downs on Thursday, Nov. 8, at Churchill Downs in Millionaires Row. Gates open at 11 a.m., with post time at 12:40 p.m.
Tickets are $20 for dues-paying LSI members and $34.50 for guests. Ticket price includes a gourmet buffet, entry and a program.

Parks board to meet Oct. 16
The New Albany-Floyd County Parks Board meeting will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the YMCA in New Albany. The meeting had originally been scheduled for Oct. 23. There will be an executive session prior to the 6 p.m. public meeting.
FMH employees star in breast cancer awareness video
More than 250 staff members at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services are starring in their own Pink Glove Dance video to help spread the word about breast cancer awareness and prevention. The video was submitted to a national competition to determine the best Pink Glove Dance video of 2012.
As part of the Pink Glove Dance 2012 competition, Floyd Memorial’s video will be posted on www.pinkglovedance.com on Oct. 12 along with the videos of the other participants to be viewed by the public. Viewers can vote on their favorite video [voting requires a Facebook account] from Oct. 12-26. The top three winners receive a $10,000, $5,000 or $2,000 donation in their name to the breast cancer charity of their choice. Winners will be announced Nov. 2 on www.pinkglovedance.com.
