Democratic Women’s Caucus Feb. 13

The Floyd County Democratic Women's Caucus is conducting a regularly scheduled business meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the New Albany Roadhouse Restaurant and Sports Lounge, 1706 Graybrook Lane, New Albany.

The meeting will include a interactive presentation on “Defending The Affordable Care Act,” followed by an opportunity to meet and greet the Democratic candidates running for elective offices in 2014 as well as meet, socialize and strategize with other Democratic women.

Deadline nears for Hall of Fame nominations

The deadline to nominate someone for the New Albany High School Hall of Fame is Feb. 28. Nomination forms can be obtained at the school office or at

DePauw hosting tailgate dinner

DePauw Methodist, across from New Albany High School, will be holding a tailgate dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 25, prior to the New Albany basketball game.

The menu will include pulled cavitini (Italian sausage casserole), green beans, salad, dessert and a drink. The price is $7 for adults and $3 for children 6 to 12 years old. Students are $5. Children 5 and younger eat free.

Sacred Heart hosting open house

Sacred Heart School, 1842 E. Eighth St., Jeffersonville, will sponsor an open house, 12:30 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 26, at the school.

The school now accepting Indiana Choice Vouchers.


World War II Roundtable Meeting Jan. 31

The World War II Roundtable will have its first meeting of the new year at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, at the Clarksville Branch of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library, 1312 Eastern Blvd.

The January meeting will feature Bill Martin who will discuss his recent trip to Washington, D.C., to visit the World War II Memorial with the Bluegrass Chapter of the Veteran’s Honor Flight. Martin was a member of the Air Force during World War II.

Meetings planned for the future include a program in February on Army field rations and a digital slide presentation about the new Patton Museum of Leadership at Fort Knox in March.

Meetings are open to anyone interested in World War II and are held on the last Friday of each month except for December when there is no meeting. The contact person for the World War II Roundtable is Martin at 812-282-1738.


St. Joe Hill offering chicken to go

St. Joe Hill Catholic Church, 2605 St. Joe Road West, Sellersburg, is hosting a “Chicken To Go” Fundraiser, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 2, at the church. The carryout dinner includes the popular St. Joe Hill fried chicken, french fries, baked beans, and famous SJH slaw. White meat dinners are $8, dark meat dinners are $7.

Mardi Gras Bash fundraiser Feb. 22

Goodwill of Southern Indiana will sponsor the 15th annual Mardi Gras Bash, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, at Horseshoe Southern Indiana. The Mardi Gras Bash is Goodwill of Southern Indiana’s largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit services for children and adults with disabilities and disadvantages.

 Event will feature a dinner buffet, cash bar, live Dixieland jazz performed by The West Market Street Stompers, a silent and live auction and a 50/50 raffle.
