Floyd Central Alumni Association announces 2014 Hall of Fame class

Nevitt began his career journey as a seventh-grader at Floyd Central Junior High. Lacking acting talent, he instead joined the lighting crew in the theatre, at that time located in the school’s cafeteria. The following year, Floyd Central opened its theatre and Nevitt found his calling, participating in scenery and lighting design for every production until his graduation in 1986.

He received his bachelor’s degree in theatrical design from University of Evansville and his master’s degree in theatrical lighting design from UCLA. Over the next 17 years, he built a successful lighting career in Los Angeles, accruing multiple motion picture credits to his name, including “The Grinch,” “Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas,” “Miss Congeniality” and “Batman & Robin.”

Both a designer and an automated lighting programmer, Nevitt also has been involved in several research and development projects for technical manufacturers. These industry-leading moving light and control system products appear in the background on numerous theater, television and concert events, including the Salt Lake City Olympics.

He is a senior partner at Crossfade Design LLC. Serving as lighting director for HBO boxing, his lighting can be seen on HBO television on select Saturday evenings.

Riedling is an internationally recognized expert in online and distance learning. She received her doctorate in Information science and distance education from the University of Louisville. She taught at numerous universities throughout her career as an educator, including Spalding, Mansfield, Saint Leo, St. Petersburg and University of South Florida, among others.

Riedling conducted the majority of her teaching online while focusing on her area of expertise. Over a 15-year period, Riedling authored 13 text and trade books and recently completed her 14, to be published this summer.

A four-time Fulbright Scholar/Specialist, she garnered scholarships in Bahrain, Yemen, Egypt, Oman and Pakistan. During her Fulbright tenures, she taught and also helped to build libraries in these countries.
