Free hearing tests being offered
Bennett Place, a senior living community by Enlivant, has invited Zounds’ Hearing Aids to offer free hearing screenings to local community members.
Screenings will be offered from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, at Bennett Place, 928 Horne Ave., New Albany. No appointment is necessary.
Zounds’ representatives will be on site to answer any questions after the screening. Bennett Place will provide refreshments and door prizes and tours of Bennett Place will be offered to visitors.

Scribner presents ‘Cinderella’
Scribner Middle School’s Music Department will present “Cinderella” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 24 and 25, at Scribner Middle School Performing Arts Center, 910 Old Vincennes Road, New Albany.
Scribner’s performance is the junior stage version of the musical written for television, with music by Richard Rodgers and a book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.

Rib and chicken dinner coming up
Galatian Missionary Baptist Church will host a rib and chicken dinner beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26.
Rib dinners are $10 and chicken dinners are $8, and both include two sides, dinner roll, soft drink and dessert.

Brandon’s House walkathon scheduled
The annual walkathon for Brandon’s House Counseling Center Inc. will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 27, at DePauw Methodist Church, across from New Albany High School.
The event is the biggest fundraiser for Brandon’s House, a nonprofit agency that gives away master’s level counseling to teenagers and families in the community.

Meet the candidates in Greenville
Greenville Concerned Citizens will hold its annual meeting and a presentation of candidates for office, Sunday, April 27.
A free lunch will be served at noon, followed by a brief business meeting, and then introduction of the attending candidates running for Floyd County or state office in the May primary. Candidates will be able to present their platform and answer questions from the audience. Everyone is welcome.

Celebrated Shakespeare’s 450th
For Shakespeare’s 450th birthday, come bite your thumb at ye old King’s man. To have a right, rip-roarious time, the Sellersburg Library will have a silly sonnet contest and attendees can watch the Reduced Shakespeare Co. and create Shakespearean insults.

Ivy Tech offering express enrollment
Ivy Tech Community College Southern Indiana will hold express enrollment events April 30 and May 7. They will take place in Pfau Hall, between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m. on the Sellersburg campus, 8204 Ind. 311 Sellersburg.
These events are designed to take students through the entire process, from application to registration, in one visit to the campus. New students can do everything from application to registering from classes at the event, but current students or those who have just a few steps to complete their admission may finish up the process as well. A full staff of admissions representatives, academic advisers and financial aid representatives will be on hand and available to help students complete their needs.
The events will provide opportunities for both prospective and current students to receive assistance with course selection and registration for both the Summer and Fall 2014 semesters. Faculty representatives from all academic programs will be on hand during the event. Questions about the event should be directed to the Office of Admissions at 812-246-3301, extension 4137.
