Four finalists for IUS chancellor named

New leader to take helm in July

NEW ALBANY — Four finalists for the chancellor’s position at IU Southeast were named on Wednesday by the campus’ search committee.

According to a news release from IU, Aldemaro Romero, Jr., the dean of the college of arts and sciences at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; Susan Sciame-Giesecke; interim chancellor at IU Kokomo; Ray Wallace; provost and senior vice chancellor at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith; and Sam Minner, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Radford University in Virginia, are in the front-running for the job.

Each are set for campus visits at the end of the month and the beginning of January. Romero is scheduled for Jan. 28, Sciame-Giesecke for Jan. 30, Wallace for Feb. 3 and Minner for Feb. 5.

The news release says they’ll meet with faculty, staff, students and community members during their visits, then the committee will make further recommendations to IU President Michael McRobbie and executive vice president for university academic affairs John Applegate.

Sandra Patterson-Randles, the last full-time chancellor, retired in June of last year, a year earlier than anticipated. Barbara Bichelmeyer took the position in the interim.

The next chancellor is expected to take the position in July, with approval of the final appointment made by the IU Board of Trustees.
