Runaway investigation leads to drug arrest in New Albany

Man faces felony charges

NEW ALBANY — A New Albany man is behind bars following his arrest on drug charges Sunday, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.

Following an investigation by ISP Trooper Zachary Smith, a runaway juvenile from Harrison County was located in a house in the 1800 block of East Oak Street in New Albany. While searching the residence, another runaway juvenile was located who had been missing from New Albany.

Along with the runaway juveniles, troopers also located fluorescent lighting, hydroponics, nutrients for plants, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the release.

Arrested was Kalaab Z. Veron, 21, a resident of home. He is currently in the Floyd County Jail. He was charged with dealing in marijuana, hash oil, or hashish, D felony; maintaining a common nuisance, D felony; cultivation/possession of marijuana, A misdemeanor and possession of paraphernalia, A misdemeanor.
