New Albany City Council questions farmers market expansion

Vote on funding for new police cars again tabled

NEW ALBANY — Funding approved for housing

On final reading, the council voted 7-0 to provide $25,000 for St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities and $25,000 for The Salvation Army in New Albany.

The money is to be used for transitional housing for homeless people, as both organizations saw their federal funding cut over the past year.

Council President Pat McLaughlin and Councilman Kevin Zurschmiede were absent from the meeting.

Coffey again withdrew the final reading for a $450,000 appropriation for 15 new police cars.

The funding was approved on initial readings in December, but the final ballot has been tabled multiple times over the past two months.
