Weather forecast: Severe threat begins Sunday

By KEVIN HARNED
WAVE 3 News

— All eyes are on the severe weather threat for the end of the weekend. Strong wind fields will give us the potential to see damaging wind gusts by Sunday afternoon. Combined with an area of low pressure moving toward the Ohio Valley, we’ll need to keep an eye to the sky.

Depending on the amount of instability we could see a two-fold event.

• The first being a threat for supercells during the afternoon Sunday with a tornado threat (if we see any late morning or early afternoon sunshine on Sunday).

• The second threat and threat with more confidence will be a line of storms ahead of an advancing cold front later in the day on Sunday that will have the potential to produce strong winds.

After warm temperatures this weekend we’re back below normal next week with highs in the low to mid 50s for most days.
