Former Clark County planner dies at 75

Ramona Bagshaw had recently retired

HENRYVILLE — A woman who dedicated herself for more than 30 years to keep business moving forward in Clark County died Friday.

Ramona Bagshaw, 75, Henryville, worked as the Executive Director of Clark County Zoning and Planning Commission for 32 1/2 years, only recently retiring.

“She was born and raised in Clark County and loved Clark County,” Clark County Building Commission Tony Semones said.

Semones said he shared office space with Bagshaw, and that the two had more a business relationship than a personal one, but he was witness to her spirited approach to her work.

“She had a country flair to her, being born in Henryville. That was the lady I knew,” he said.

Semones said Bagshaw was enthusiastic in her duties and wanted her work to benefit the community.

“All of her energy toward her decisions were based on what she would like to see in Clark County,” he said. “She was extremely pro-business and would work to try to keep business moving forward in Clark County.”

“If there are no jobs, the people have a problem,’ that was kind of her motto,” Semones said.

She was a 1956 Henryville High School graduate and a graduate of the beauty school in New Albany. She owned her own beauty shop, Ramona’s Beauty Shop for 17 years. She retired from her job in county government in June 2013.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Adams Funeral Home & Crematory, Henryville, and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Henryville United Methodist Church.
