5k race scheduled for Independence Day

‘Dog Days’ event headed back to Georgetown Drive-in

The Drive-In is located at 8200 Ind. 64 in Georgetown. For more information, call the shelter at 812-948-5355.

At the request of the administration, the board of works approved closing the far left lane of Spring Street near Bicentennial Park for the remainder of the summer concert series.

Michael Hall, director of operations for the city, said “traffic flowed smoothly for us” by having the lane closed beginning at 1 p.m. so that bands could unload their gear and crews could prepare the park for the 6 p.m. concert.

The lane will be closed beginning at 1 p.m. until around 10 p.m. through the final concert of the season, which will be Aug. 23.

The Friday-evening shows are free and open to the public. This week’s performance will feature the band “Ballroom Blitz.”
