Safe driving skills taught
AARP will hold a safe driving class from noon to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Clarksville Library, 1312 Eastern Blvd., Clarksville. The cost of this four-hour course is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. The last class scheduled for this year is Oct. 29.
Classes are geared toward people 50 and older and emphasize how aging affects one’s driving. Topics such as physical changes, rules of the road, driving on interstates, and new car technology are covered through lecture, video and class discussion. Many auto insurance companies provide discounts for people who complete this course.

Weigh in on resource concerns
The Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Floyd County Soil & Water Conservation District invites the public to participate in the fiscal 2014 ranking of local priorities .This meeting will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today, Monday, Aug. 5, at the district office, 2524 Corydon Pike, Suite 103, New Albany.
The goal is to identify the top 10 natural resource concerns and/or priorities in Floyd County for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and for the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program. The Natural Resources Conservation Service will then use these rankings to evaluate and rank all future EQIP and WHIP applications.
