Church hosting brunch for mothers
The deacons of Culbertson Baptist Church, 4007 Grant Line Road, New Albany, are hosting a brunch for women of the church and the community, 10 a.m., May 11, in the Family Life Center of the church.
Guest speaker will be Dawne Gee of WAVE 3, and the men’s choir from Culbertson will provide gospel music.
There is no charge for the brunch, but, because of limited seating, reservations are required. Reservations may be made by calling the church office at 812-944-2738 by May 6.
St. Paul’s looking for artists
The seventh annual Art on the Parish Green, at historic St. Paul's Episcopal Church in New Albany, has openings for a few additional artists for the June 8-9 event.
The event features 60 juried art and fine crafts displays, food and drink, music, a YMCA Kids’ Art Place, and old-fashioned carriage rides in New Albany's Main Street area. Proceeds of the event annually benefit community service projects in New Albany. Prospective artists should go to www.artontheparishgreen.org to download an application and submit photographs of their work for consideration.
Genealogy classes coming to library
The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library is offering a series of six genealogy classes from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday, May 8.
Library staff member and genealogist, Nancy Strickland, will be teaching the class. Participants will learn the basics of getting started, including an overview of what information to look for, forms to use and how to organize the information. Participants should bring a pencil and a list of known ancestors including names, dates and places of birth, marriage and death if known.
