German students hosting breakfast
New Albany High School German students will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Applebee’s Restaurant on Grant Line Road in New Albany.
The event is a fundraiser for the students who will be traveling to Germany in 2014.
Friends fiction book sale April 6
Friends of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library will hold their annual fiction book sale in the library’s annex building, at the corner of Spring Street and Scribner Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6.
All books in the fiction section will be discounted by 50 percent. Regular prices are $1 for hardbacks, 50 cents for DVDs, videos and paperbacks, 25 cents for audio book cassette tapes, and 10 cents for magazines and music cassette tapes. Children’s books are available at $1 or less.
40 & 8 hosting open house, lunch
The 40 & 8 Club will sponsor an open house and salmon patty or corn beef and cabbage dinner, noon to 3 p.m., April 21, at the clubhouse, 221 Albany St., New Albany.
The price for the Samoan patty or corn beef and cabbage dinner with fried potatoes, macaroni and cheese, slaw and dessert, is $7.
Providence to present ‘Wizard of Oz’
The Providence Players of Providence High School will present “The Wizard of Oz” as its spring musical at 2 p.m. on April 21, 7:30 p.m. April 25 through 27, and 2 p.m. April 28.

Open house to unveil program
Tony Schy, managing director of Velocity Indiana, an entrepreneur center focused on developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem through education and programming initiatives, will host an open house from 4:30 to 6 p.m., April 4, at 400 Missouri Ave., Jeffersonville.
