Under the direction of Joanna Goldstein, the program will feature graduating senior music performance major Russell Shartzer in a performance of the “Tuba Concerto” by Ralph Vaughan Williams and the world premiere of “Supergero Symphony” by senior music composition major Peter Felice. The orchestra will also perform the “Norfolk Rhapsody No. 1” by Vaughan Williams.

Free parking is available in the Dogwood lot directly in front of the Ogle Center.  Vehicles parked in other lots on campus will be subject to ticketing.

JEFFERSONVILLE

5k run/walk to benefit animal rescue

Southern Indiana Animal Rescue and the Jeffersonville Fire Department are hosting a 5k run/walk called Fido’s 5k benefiting the Koko Project at 9 a.m. May 11 at the Overlook on Riverside Drive. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and if they bring their dog, they will receive a bandanna to wear.

Church to host shredding event

A shredding event sponsored by the Women of  First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 1506 Spring St., Jeffersonville, will be from 9 to 11 a.m. April 27 at the church.

A-Plus Shredding Company will have a truck on site to pulverize confidential documents within minutes. Minimum donation is $5.

JHS girls’ team holding scramble

The Jeffersonville High School girls’ basketball team will hold a golf scramble fundraiser April 28 at Hidden Creek Golf Club in Sellersburg. The shotgun start is at 2 p.m. with registration from 1 to 1:45.

Cost per player is $75 or $300 for a team. Hole sponsorships are being sold for $100. Checks should be made payable to Jeff Girls Basketball Boosters and mailed to 3013 McArthur Way, Jeffersonville, IN, 47130. Call 502-724-7126 or 502-741-2657 for more information.

 

SOUTHERN INDIANA

Academy day set for April 28

Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., and Congressman Luke Messer, R-Ind., announced an upcoming Academy Day session in Southern Indiana to provide students the opportunity to learn more about applying to one of the U.S. Service Academies. The informational session will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. April 27 at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, 4230 E. Administration Drive, Butlerville. It will be held in the Patriot Academy Building.
