NEW ALBANY — A New Albany High School student was hit by a car while crossing Vincennes Street early Monday morning.

The student, a 15-year-old girl, was dropped off near the school and while crossing Vincennes Street in the cross walk, was struck, according to New Albany Police Department Maj. Keith Whitlow. He said the teen suffered head and facial injuries, but was alert and talking to investigators before being transported to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville. Whitlow said her injuries appeared not to be life-threatening. He said the accident is still under investigation.
