SALEM — An arrest has been made in connection to an 8-month-old boy who was found unresponsive by his mother Saturday and later died, according to Indiana State Police.

At 3:15 p.m. Monday, police arrested Jamie Lykins, the live-in boyfriend of the mother, at a convenience store on Ind. 56 in Salem.

At about 7 p.m. Saturday, investigators said Leelan Crain, Salem, was found unresponsive by his mother, Casey Crain, while the infant was thought to be taking a nap. Crain and Lykins took Leelan to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Salem. He was transferred by air ambulance to Kosair Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:41 a.m. Sunday.

ISP said a preliminary autopsy has determined Leelan died of blunt-force trauma to the head.

Lykins is being held in the Washington County Jail. He is charge with neglect of a dependent and battery causing death.
