Jeffersonville mom reunited with sons

Teens were missing for four days

JEFFERSONVILLE —

Two Jeffersonville teenage boys are now home with their mother after she reported them missing Thursday, April 25.

Christina Moss said her sons, Damonte, 15, and Devin, 14, were both found Sunday night. Moss said she had last seen the boys about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Although the boys are back with their mother, she said they haven’t been forthcoming with where they were during their four days away from home.

“They are saying they were just a little bit here and there,” Moss said Monday of her sons.

Moss said she received a phone call about 8 p.m. Wednesday that Damonte was at a home in Aristocrat Place Townhomes in Jeffersonville, and she called the Jeffersonville Police Department to have her son picked up.

While juvenile arrests are not subject to public review, Moss said Damonte had been detained by officers as he had resisted police. Moss said she received a call from Devin about 10 p.m. that night from his cell phone to come pick him up. She said she found him walking along Old Ford Road in New Albany.

Moss said her son has not said what he had been doing or who he had been with.

“They don’t know anyone in that area that I know of,” she said.

Moss said she believes Damonte had been with a 19-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man at some point while he was missing.

She said early in the day the boys went missing, Damonte had asked her if the two adults could come live in their family home. Moss denied her son’s request and said that may have motivated her boys to leave their home.

She said she intends to work with the Office of the Clark County Prosecutor to bring charges against both the adults, but isn’t sure what crimes the man and woman may have committed. While there are many questions unanswered, Moss said she is glad to have her boys home.

“I would like to thank the public for continued support and prayers,” she said.
