 Mother’s Day tea, fashion show May 12

A Mother’s Day team and fashion show will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at the Masonic Lodge, 805 E. Market St., New Albany.

Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children 16 and younger.

NA-FC Library hosting pet fair

The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library is hosting the eighth annual pet fair from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the library’s annex parking lot, at the corner of Scribner Drive and Spring Street.

Individuals representing several organizations will be available to provide information on pet health, rescue groups, pet adoption and other pet-related needs. There will be adoptable pets at the fair and some will be able to be adopted on the spot. There will be a pet costume parade beginning at 2:30 p.m. with prizes for the best-dressed pet.

All animals must be on leashes. For more information call Reference Services Desk at 912-949-3523.

 

Church deacons hosting brunch for mothers

The deacons of Culbertson Baptist Church, 4007 Grant Line Road, New Albany, are hosting a brunch for women of the church and the community,  beginning 10 a.m. May 11, in the Family Life Center of the church. 

Guest speaker will be Dawne Gee of  WAVE-3, and the men’s choir from Culbertson will provide gospel music.

There is no charge for the brunch, but because of limited seating reservations are required. Reservations may be made by calling the church office at 812-944-2738 by May 6.

 

Coalition to give away 300 tomato plants 

From 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 13, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, the Floyd County Nutrition Coalition will be giving away 300 free tomato plants in the Floyd County YMCA’s main lobby, 33 State St., on a first-come, first-served basis.
