Local residents interested in the plans for the Ohio River Bridges Project can attend an open house Wednesday, May 8.
The event will provide an overview of the entire project, but will focus on 2013 construction activities, according to a press release from the Ohio River Bridges Project.
The focus of the open house will be on the downtown corridor of the project. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Walsh Design Build Team, the contractor for the project, are tasked with constructing a new, northbound Interstate 65 bridge, its approaches in Indiana and Kentucky and reconstructing Spaghetti Junction. The project is expected to be completed in December 2016.
The open house will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mellwood Art Center, 1860 Mellwood Ave., in Louisville. It will give citizens the opportunity to view displays, talk one-on-one with project leaders, see an overview presentation and ask questions of officials from both the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Walsh Design Build Team.
The overview presentations will be held at 5 p.m. and again at 6:15 p.m.
Free parking is available on both the north and south sides of Mellwood Avenue.
Information about 2013 lane and ramp closures and narrowings, as well as other construction impacts, will be posted in advance on nearby signage, on the project website, www.kyinbridges.com, in the media, and on Facebook and Twitter @LouDntwnBridge.
