NEW ALBANY —  Mount Tabor Elementary School teacher Abbey Smith was named the New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corp. Teacher of the Year at a banquet last week.

“I am honored to represent the teachers of NA-FC Schools as the 2012-2013 District Teacher of the Year,” Smith said in a release. “This honor is indicative of the diligence and hard work that all teachers at NA-FC Schools show every single day in our classrooms. “The Teacher of the Year banquet was a wonderful celebration of teaching and learning. As an administrator and parent of a child in our schools I am well aware that we have the best of the best teachers in New Albany- Floyd County,” Day said. “I am proud of our public school system and the work that teachers and administrators do each and every day. Abbey Smith is an outstanding educator that inspires students and everyone around her to excel.”
