Chautauqua Festival set for this weekend

21st annual event brings steamboat culture to life

(Continued)

JEFFERSONVILLE —

That heritage will come to life again for a few hours Saturday and Sunday.

And if you’re anything like Norrington, the lilting melodies of the crank organ drifting over the yard will bring that Victorian steamboat heritage to life, at least for a few days.

FAMILY FUN FESTIVAL

This year’s Chautauqua festival will also feature another event Saturday — the Clark County Youth Shelter’s annual Family Fun Festival. The festival is being held in conjunction with the Victorian celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Port Fulton Park, which is located behind the Steamboat Museum.

The event features carnival-style games, a dunking booth, face painting, inflatables, food and more family-oriented fun. Games and food booths are ticket-based with tickets at $1 each and proceeds benefit the Clark County Shelter and Family Services Inc.

The overall mission of the Clark County Youth Shelter and Family Services, Inc. is “to serve youth and families in a safe and caring environment,” according to a press release.
