Bridge work-related closures announced

LOUISVILLE — The following closures and lane restrictions are expected the rest of this week and next week in connection with construction on the downtown portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

Work currently underway in Louisville will create lane restrictions on Witherspoon Street, from Preston Street to Adams Street, through Saturday, Nov. 30, for utility work and pile driving. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction.

The right lane of westbound Witherspoon Street, from Adams Street to River Road, is scheduled to be closed through Saturday, Nov. 30. Flaggers will be used at times to control traffic in one lane.

The left lane of Main Street, from Hancock Street to Jackson Street, is scheduled to be closed through Saturday, Nov. 16, for work on retaining walls.

The right lane and right parking lane on eastbound Market Street, from Jackson Street to Hancock Street, are scheduled to be closed through Saturday, Nov. 16, for abutment work.

The right lane and right parking lane on Preston Street, from Market Street to Liberty Street, are scheduled to be closed through Saturday, Nov. 30, for pile driving.

The left lane and both parking lanes on Jefferson Street, from Jackson Street to Preston Street, are scheduled to be closed through Friday, Nov. 29, for pile driving and excavation work.

The left lane of Jackson Street, from Jefferson Street to Market Street, is scheduled to be closed through Friday, Nov. 22, for abutment work.

The right lane of Liberty Street, from Floyd Street to Preston Street, is scheduled to be closed through Friday, Nov. 22, for excavation work.

Work scheduled to begin Friday, Nov. 15, includes the closure of the left lane of Interstate 64 east from I-65 to just east of the I-71 north exit ramp Friday, Nov. 15, for work on a temporary wall. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

There will be no access to I-64 east from I-65 north or I-65 south overnight Friday, Nov. 15, for work on a temporary wall. Access is expected to close around 9 p.m. and open by 5 a.m. Detour routes will be signed.

Work scheduled to begin next week on Monday, Nov. 18, includes the overnight closure of one lane of I-64 east from I-65 to just east of the I-71 north exit ramp. The ramp is scheduled to close overnight Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 19, for temporary paving and striping. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. both days.

One lane of I-71 south from Frankfort Avenue to the merger with I-64 west is scheduled to be closed overnight Monday, Nov. 18, and Tuesday, Nov. 19, for temporary paving and striping. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. both days.

The ramp from I-71 south to I-64 west is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, Nov. 19, for temporary striping. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

The ramp from I-64 east to I-65 north is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, Nov. 20, for work on a temporary wall. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

The left lane of I-64 east from Ninth Street to just east of the I-71 north exit ramp is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, Nov. 20, for work on a temporary wall. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

The right lane of I-71 south from Frankfort Avenue to the merger with I-64 west is scheduled to close overnight Thursday, Nov. 21, and Friday, Nov. 22, for milling and work on a temporary wall. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. both days.

On the east-end portion of the project, Ind. 62 northbound will be limited to one lane from Tuesday Nov. 19, through Thursday, Nov. 21, at the I-265 interchange. The closures will extend for about a half-mile in each direction from the interchange and will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
