Bennett forum coming to Ivy Tech
Tony Bennett, the Republican candidate for state superintendent of public instruction, will answer questions and give his position on various issues at a public forum at 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at Ivy Tech Community College.
The forum, sponsored by Leadership Southern Indiana and One Southern Indiana, will be in the Community Room of the Horseshoe Foundation Assembly Center in Ogle Hall. No registration is required to attend, but questions can be submitted to email@example.com.
Election board to meet Friday
The Clark County Election Board will meet at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Clark County Government Building, 501 E. Court Ave., on the basement/judicial side.
The purpose of this meeting is a hearing for challenged absentee ballot applications.
CPR, other training set
The Clark County Chapter of the American Red Cross will sponsor adult and pediatric first aid/CPR and AED training during October. All classes will be at the Red Cross Center, 1805 E. Eighth St., Jeffersonville.
• Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6.
• Adults First Aid/CPR/AED, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 12.
• Adult and Pediatric First aid/CPR/AED review, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Oct. 23.
Church bazaar, craft show is Oct. 6
Chapel Hill Christian Church, Navilleton Road and Chapel Hill Road, Floyds Knobs, will hold a bazaar and craft show, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 6, at the church.
Several booths will be set up inside the fellowship hall and outside, as well, selling items such as candles, jewelry, Home Interiors, Pampered Chef, children’s books, Tupperware, Tasteful Simple and many other items. Lunch will also be served.
The church Harvest on the Hill booth, selling apple butter, jelly and persimmon pudding, will be set up for all four Saturdays in October, at the church.
Biannual reunion set
The Georgetown High School Alumni biannual reunion is planned for Saturday, Oct. 6, for graduates, attendees and friends of the classes of 1912 to 1967. The event will be at Georgetown Elementary School, 8800 High St., Georgetown.
Honored will be 75th year classes of 1937 and 1938 as well as the 50th year classes of 1962 and 1963. Members of these classes will be presented their anniversary pins.
This year will be the first presentation of the Georgetown High School Lifetime Achievement Award. This award honors dedication and service to Georgetown High School and or the Georgetown School Community.
Schedule: Meet and greet will be from 4 to 5 p.m.; business meeting 5 to 5:30 p.m.; recognition of 50th and 75th anniversary classes, 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.; buffet dinner, 6 p.m.; social time 6 to 9 p.m.

Gospel music festival is Saturday
The Christian Family Worship Center — God’s Church, 4400 Charlestown Pike, Jeffersonville, will sponsor an outside gospel music festival, starting at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the church.
Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy food and singing. Donations will be accepted toward the church building fund. For more information call 812-282-5109.
Nachand 75th celebration coming up
The Jeffersonville Parks Department will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Nachand Fieldhouse, 601 E. Court Ave., Jeffersonville, from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the fieldhouse.
The event will include a sock hop, car show, historical tour, food and concessions and alumni basketball game. Admission is free.
Book signing is Saturday
A book signing for ‘Deadly Pose’ a mystery by Teddi Robinson, will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Fairington Apartments, Lombardy Drive and Veterans Parkway, Building 2140, Clarksville.
Comedy troupe coming to library
The Louisville Improvisors comedy troupe will be giving a free improv comedy workshop from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library, 180 W. Spring St., New Albany.
