JEFFERSONVILLE — Controller Monica Harmon was fired from her position with the city of Jeffersonville on Thursday.

The details behind why the city controller was let go are unclear as no one would comment on her removal from her post. When contacted by the News and Tribune, Harmon did not want to comment on the matter and when asked, Mayor Mike Moore and City Attorney Les Merkley said they would not comment on personnel matters.

They did, however confirm a new city controller has already been hired.

“That position has been filled,” Moore said.

Assistant Controller Amy Dearing will take over the position that Harmon held since Jeffersonville moved from a third to a second-class city.
