‘The Jungle Book’ opens Saturday at Derby Dinner

Derby Dinner will host breakfast and lunch performances on Saturdays

CLARKSVILLE — Derby Dinner Playhouse will open the musical adventure, “The Jungle Book” starting Saturday, Feb. 22, as part of their Children’s Musical Theatre Series.  

Public performances will be held Feb. 22 and March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.

“The Jungle Book” follows Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves, as he navigates the dangers of being a young man in the jungles of India. With the help of his friends, Bagheera the Panther and the beloved bear Baloo, he takes on the menacing Shere Khan the Tiger and Kaa the Snake. Throw in the mischievous monkeys and a beautiful young village girl, Maya, and you are sure to have a lot of fun as Mowgli discover life lessons and the power of friendship.

The musical is based on the story by Rudyard Kipling and was written for the stage by Ted J. Morris and Bill Johnson with music and lyrics also written by Morris.  

Derby Dinner’s production is under the direction of Tina Jo Wallace. The cast will include Bill Hanna, Colleen Arnold, David Myers, Scott Anthony, Carly Stotts, Deborah Mae Hill, Marina Hart, and Collin Jackson as Mowgli.

All performances are  on Saturdays with breakfast at 9 a.m. and lunch at noon and feature a kid-friendly menu.

School performances are available throughout the week and are scheduled for Feb. 24, 25, 27 and 28 and March 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13 and 14.
