Reports dating back to the beginning of 2013 show a clearer picture of the Floyd County Sheriff’s race when it comes to fundraising.
The News and Tribune reported Monday that Republican Frank Loop easily outpaced the other three candidates during the latest fundraising period, which ran from Jan. 1 to April 11.
However, dating back to January 2013, the numbers are much closer.
Loop raised $44,153, and fellow Republican candidate Steve Bush received $39,873. Bush raised more money in 2013, as he tallied $35,863 compared to Loop’s $30,144.
Democrat Brad Striegel garnered $39,965 since 2013, and Jeff Topping $7,973.
Bush spent $26,360 in 2013 on his campaign, which left him with $9,502 heading into this year. He garnered another $4,010 by the April 11 filing date.
Loop spent the majority of his campaign donations this year, with $20,142 in expenditures reported during the period.
