Flood control bond tabled
A resolution to approve a bond of up to $7.5 million for the Jeffersonville-Clarksville Flood Control District was tabled again Monday night.
The district had previously agreed to issue bonds for the project to rehabilitate or replace the Cane Run and Mill Creek pump stations and conduct a watershed study to help determine final design of the pump stations.
However, the council said several questions linger about the project.
School safety policies
Councilman Dennis Julius asked that the council form a committee to discuss with Greater Clark County Schools and the city’s police and fire departments policies that are in place to protect against an incident like the mass shooting that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December. The council agreed to move forward and set a meeting date before the end January to meet with school officials and first responders.
New council leaders chosen
The city council also chose a new president and vice president for 2013. Sellers will serve as the council president while Julius will serve as the council vice president.
The next Jeffersonville City Council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, because of Monday, Jan. 21, being Martin Luther King Jr. Day
