Vectren rolling out rebates for energy efficiency

Vectren Energy is offering a discount to Indiana customers who make their homes more energy efficient.

The company is covering up to 40 percent of the costs to install attic or wall insulation, and 40 percent of the expenses for duct sealing services. The rebates are limited to up to $450 of the cost of attic or wall insulation, and up to $400 for duct sealing.

To qualify you must be an Indiana Vectren natural gas customer, own the home where the insulation is being added and have the work completed by a program approved contractor. Those can be found at the website vectren.com/conservation.

Insulation or sealing services performed prior to Dec. 31, 2012, do not qualify. Vectren officials estimated such improvements can reduce energy bills by up to 25 percent and increase home values.

There’s also free weatherization services offered through Energizing Indiana to homeowners whose family income is up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level, which equates to about $46,000 annually for a family of four.

Energizing Indiana can be reached at 1-888-446-7750. For more information about the Vectren rebate program, call 1-866-240-8476.
