Learn more about War of 1812
The Filson Historical Society will present the program “Half Horse — Half Alligator: Kentuckians in the War of 1812,” as part of the Carnegie Center’s Lunch & Learn series from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the Carnegie Center for Arts and History, 201 E. Spring St., New Albany. The speaker will be Jim Holmberg.
More Kentuckians served and died in the War of 1812 than any other state. From the defeats and victories in the Old Northwest to the stunning victory at New Orleans, Kentuckians played an important role in what many call the “Second War for American Independence.”
Using letters, documents, portraits, prints, and artifacts from The Filson’s collection to illustrate his presentation, Holmberg will recount how Kentucky’s experience in the war is chronicled.
Participants can bring a lunch, drinks are provided. This program is free, but registration is required by calling 812-944-7336 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
