Charlestown Police Department holding fundraiser

Boy has a rare skin disorder

CHARLESTOWN — The Charlestown Police Department is working overtime to raise funds for a young boy suffering from a severe skin disorder.

Brody Curtis, born in 2011, has been diagnosed with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa. Any type of friction against his skin causes it to blister or come off. The child must wear special bandages to help protect him from future wounds, as well as fight against developing infections. Curtis must wear bandaging from the neck down, and those bandages must be reapplied every other day. The bandaging materials costs the Curtis family about $3,000 a month.

To help the family care for Curtis, the CPD will host two donation roadblocks.

Officers will be collecting money from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, and again Saturday, July 27 at the same time.

Donations can also be made at the Charlestown Police Department or at any New Washington State Bank branch. Checks should be made payable to the Brody Curtis Custodianship.
