CRIME BRIEFS: Police thwart theft; drugs found at motel; intruder sips suds

CLARKSVILLE — Police: Home intruder helps himself to beer

A Clarksville woman claimed a man unknown to her entered her Pinehurst Drive home Wednesday without invitation, helped himself to a Corona beer in her refrigerator then took a seat at her kitchen table.

After the alleged incident, Michael Polk, 36, was located walking along Little League Boulevard by the Clarksville Police Department about 11 p.m. Police reported Polk said at the time that he had been given a beer by the female in the Pinehurst Drive home and then he left.

The woman was brought to the scene and positively identified Polk as the man who had entered her home.

She told police Polk had approached her as she was sitting in front of her home drinking a beer, and he had asked if she had an extra beer for him.

Feeling uncomfortable, she told police she went into her home to avoid any further interaction with Polk, but he had “taken it upon himself to follow her inside of her residence without permission,” according to the report.

After taking a beer from the refrigerator, Polk laid two cigarettes on the kitchen table, sat down and asked her for a razor, the woman told police.

She told Polk she did not have a razor for him and asked if they could go outside. Once outside, she told Polk she had to go back inside to check on her sleeping children. She called police once back inside the home

Polk was preliminarily charged with residential entry, a class D felony.
