JEFFERSONVILLE

Red Cross hosting special drive

The Clark County Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring a special community blood drive in honor of Dylan Wiseman from 1 to 5 p.m. today, Friday, July 26, at two locations, the Red Cross Bloodmobile at Nelson’s Garage, 204 W. Court Ave., Jeffersonville or the Clark County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 1805 East Eight St., Jeffersonville.

On Sunday, July 28, the blood drive will continue in Dylan’s honor, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the Bloodmobile at Jeffersonville Seventh Adventist Church, 426 E. Maple Street, Jeffersonville.

Dylan is a 2-year-old Jeffersonville resident who suffers from apastic anemia.

The River Ramblings educational lecture series will be presented by Capt. Kevin Mullen, former master of the Belle of Louisville at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27, Howard Steamboat Museum, 1101 East Market St., Jeffersonville.

The program will be “Belle of Louisville, 28 years of Memories and Magical Moments.”

CLARKSVILLE

Clarksville Community Schools will host a back-to-school night for all schools Tuesday, July 30; grades K to 4 will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and grades 5 to 12 will be from 6 to 7 p.m.

The night will give parents and students the opportunity to meet the teachers as well as become familiar with the buildings, lockers and more.

Classes begin classes Thursday, Aug. 1.

SOUTHERN INDIANA

Huber’s to host balloon glow

Joe Huber’s Family Farm & Restaurant will hold its first Balloon Glow & Craft Show on Saturday, July 27, at the facility’s Barnyard, 2421 Engle Road.

The craft show will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a balloon glow to follow at dark, around 9 p.m. Admission to this family-oriented event is $5 per person. A portion of the proceeds will go to the WHAS Crusade for Children.

A variety of local artisans will have their wares for sale during the craft show at the Barnyard. Live entertainment will be provided by local musicians Higher Ground from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by headliner The Juggernaut Jug Band from 5 to 9 p.m.

The event will feature a beer garden for adults 21 and over, as well as a grill area featuring hot dogs, brats, sausages, chips and beverages available for purchase.
