Man injured after driving off I-65

Sellersburg man in stable condition at hospital

SELLERSBURG — A man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries Tuesday morning after driving a car off of Interstate 65.

Indiana State Police reported Scott Phillips, 53, of Sellersburg, left the roadway for unknown reasons about 7:30 a.m.

ISP Sgt. Jerry Goodin said Phillips was the only occupant in the Honda passenger car at the time of the single-vehicle accident, which occurred at about the 10-mile marker near Sellersburg. He said the investigation into the wreck is ongoing, but alcohol is not being considered a factor.

Phillips was traveling south on the interstate when he left the right side of the road, drove through a ditch and struck a tree.

Phillips was taken to University of Louisville Hospital and remained in the emergency room at 6 p.m. He was listed in stable condition according to hospital officials.
