Comfy Cow eyeing New Albany location

NEW ALBANY —

The Comfy Cow ice cream and dessert parlor may open a store in downtown New Albany.

“Nothing is written in stone yet. I can say that we’re definitely very interested and it looks probable,” said Roy Koons-McGee, co-founder and owner of The Comfy Cow, which launched in Louisville in 2009.

Koons-McGee said the company has been in discussions about occupying the building at 109 Market St., and would open next spring if the deal comes to fruition.

“We definitely have an interest in New Albany, and we’ve had an interest in Southern Indiana for quite awhile,” he said. “New Albany in particular just because the restaurant scene over there is really vibrant, and I think it’s pretty solid, and I think it’s going to do nothing but improve.”

The Comfy Cow has locations at Westport Village, Cardinal Towne and Clifton in Louisville. Ice cream pies, sundaes and a variety of ice cream flavors including Georgia Butter Pecan, Cake Batter Up and Vermont Maple Walnut are featured items of The Comfy Cow.

The ice cream is the focal point of the operation, but Koons-McGee added that the atmosphere inside The Comfy Cow parlors is also important.

“We have a top-of-the-line product, and I think the people of New Albany will appreciate that,” he said.
