Arts Council hosting music event

The Arts Council of Southern Indiana will host a Support Local Music event from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Arts Council, 820 E. Market St., New Albany.

Performers include Steve Price, Youngstown Parade, Hugh Bir Jr., Jeff Guernsey, Tammy Burke, Ashley Ledrick, Jacob Resch and Lindsey Lane.

Bring a chair or a blanket and coolers are welcome.



CLARKSVILLE

Council holding special meeting

The Clarksville Town Council will hold a special meeting Saturday at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

The meeting will be held in the executive conference room of the Clarksville Town Hall, 2000 Broadway, Clarksville. The meeting will be held in concert with the Town Manager Search Committee.



Family fun day at the library

The Jeffersonville Township Public Library would like to say thank you to the community at our annual Family Fun Day.

This year’s event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Clarksville Branch of the Jeffersonville Township Public, 1312 Eastern Blvd., Clarksville. Family Fun Day is held in September because September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and the library reminds families that a library card is one of the most important cards in your wallet.

Everything at Family Fun Day is free and includes: musical entertainment, carnival games, a bounce house, a balloon animal artist, temporary tattoo booth, sidewalk chalk, a Friends of the Library Book Sale and movies in the library. Local fire and police departments will be present, as well, showing off their vehicles and providing fingerprinting for children. Lunch will include a hot dog, popcorn, popsicles and bottled water, and will be prepared and served by The Rotary Club of Clarksville.



Class of ’63 to reunite

Clarksville High School class of 1963 will hold a 50-year reunion Saturday, Sept. 21. They are looking for any former classmates.

NEW ALBANY

Friends book sale Saturday

The Friends of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library will hold a book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, in the library’s Annex Building, located at the corner of Scribner Drive and Spring Street, New Albany.

All books dealing with health and medicine will be discounted by 50 percent. Regular prices are $1 for hardbacks; 50 cents for videos, DVDs and paperbacks; 25 cents for audio book cassette tapes; and 10 cents for magazines and music cassette tapes. Children’s books are available for $1 or less.



Gospel groups performing Friday

A Bicentennial Gospel Fest celebrating 200 years of gospel music will be at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, at St. John Presbyterian Church, 1307 East Elm St., New Albany.

The event will feature The Spiritual Wonders with additional performances by St., John Chancel and Handbell Choirs.

CHARLESTOWN

Benefit car show on tap

A benefit car show open to any car, truck or motorcycle will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Clark County 4-H Center, 9806 Ind. 62, Charlestown.

Preregistration is $20 and receive a free event T-shirt. Day of show registration is $20 without a T-shirt. All vehicles must be driven in. Registration cutoff is 1 p.m. No alcoholic beverages allowed.

Proceeds will benefit Jason “Fluffy” Dailey and his family to help with medical expenses for his heart transplant. For more information, call 812-542-1847.



Mum sale starts Friday

Bethany Christian Church, Charlestown, annual mum sale will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21, at 3006 Charlestown Pike, Jeffersonville, next to the old Willy’s Ice Cream. The price is 8 inch hardy mum, $8 and 12 inch patio pot, $20. The colors are yellow, red, orange, purple, bronze and white.

All proceeds will benefit the Capital Fund of Bethany Christian Church, 9007 Ind. 62, Charlestown.



JEFFERSONVILLE

DAR group to meet

The Ann Rogers Clark Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution will begin the 2013-14 season with a luncheon meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Jeffersonville Township Public Library, 211 E. Court Ave., Jeffersonville.

The charge for the luncheon is $5.
